  • The chance to hob-nob over hops and pints with your fellow meat-lovin’ and brew-minded brethren

Scout Notes

It’s no secret – we’ve been a bit smitten with Kirkwood’s boutique charcuterie since they first opened up shop off of Hosea L. Williams Drive. And how could we not be? It’s virtually impossible to resist our carnivorous instincts when we peruse their weekly, rotating menu: dry-aged rib eyes, Creole smoked whole chickens, Pork Rillettes with herb butter and Calabrian Chili Pancetta – all prepared “the right way.” (By which we mean, sourced straight from farmers who treat their animals ethically.) So when we caught wind of a second outpost opening up in our beloved Krog Street Market, our mouths were watering immediately. (And still are, actually – pardon our drool.)

Conveniently, the Cockentrice & Spotted Trotter happen to be just across the way from our brew haven, Hop City. Helmed by Atlanta's Beer Aficionado in residence, Kraig Torres, Hop City has been responsible for honing many a beer-lover’s tastes since opening up his original shop on the Westside shop 6 years ago. Which got us to thinking: what would happen when their carnivorous capacities joined with the wonderment that is Hop City? All we can imagine is an unstoppable force of meat and brew-lust in our book. Luckily, Kevin and Megan of the Spotted Trotter agreed. “Hop City brings such a unique and fun energy to Krog Street Market – you can't help but want to be a part of their vibe.” They said. “And nothing seems to pair better together than beer and meat, so we are excited to be bypassing the more traditional wine & charcuterie pairings that everyone thinks of and showing people that fancy meats and fancy beers are a "thing" now too!”

Indeed, they are a thing, and with this series of Chef Tastings, you’ll be able to taste why. At this event Chef Kevin will bring in a curated collection of his cured meats and signature specialties that will be expertly paired up with some small batch brews by Hop City’s own Kraig Torres. The selection of meats and brews will rotate regularly throughout the series of tasting, but trust us that only the best of the best will be represented. Uh-oh, looks like we’re drooling again just thinking about it. (Sorry… not sorry.)
